Tapas con mi hermano
Had a great lunch of tapas at Jaleo in Washington with my brother. We had: piquillo, arroz setas, tort seta gerrot, trigueros, chorizo, aceitunas manche, iberico jamon and salpicon cangrej. Chef Jose Andres has been making tapas here for years and while it may have a bit of a ‘tired’ feeling, it rarely disappoints.

Green Apple BBQ

We went to Green Apple BBQ with friends last week but unfortunately, we had to take it to go. But the dinner combo plate with smoked beef brisket and pulled pork + 2 sides made the trip to 112th worth it. As we were leaving 2 of New York’s finest were settling in for their dinner – always a good sign of EatWells.

Sunday Dinner
March 7, 2010
We had a nice dinner Sunday night with friends at Northern Spy Food Co. The small East Village restaurant, named after an apple native to the Northeast (aka “Northern Spie”) offers ‘comfort food’ cooked with locally (Northeast and Mid-Atlantic) grown ingredients. They are big on pork here even though they ran out of the pork special at 7:00pm. The $20 dinner special for 3 courses is a great deal. They also serve some fantastic draft beer- I tried the Sixpoint Sweet Action and the Kelso Pilsner. It was the perfect ending to a busy a weekend.
Saturday Brunch

Had a wonderful brunch at Artisanal. For starters, we chose the basket of warm gourgères, caramelized pear crêpe and sausage and egg. For the ‘plats principaux, we had almond croissant French toast, sautéed skate wing and grilled English cheddar, apple and bacon. Finally, for desserts, we had the Artisinal cheesecake, crème brûlée ‘le cirque’ and housemade ice cream. We had a great time and it was a special treat. Well worth the $24.07 for 3 courses.
