Paris – September 2012 I had the opportunity to dine three times at the Christian Constant’s restaurants on rue Saint Dominique in the 7eme. While the food was generally very good, the service was less than consistent. Several years ago a well known breakfast place in south Florida closed. When I asked a serious trencherman why this old establishment closed its doors, he said “they weren’t paying attention”. I’m afraid M. Constant isn’t paying attention. The service was rushed and hurried, dismissive at times with the attitude many people might describe as “Parisienne”. I waited nearly 30 minutes for tarte aux pommes before giving up and asking for the check. Perhaps his success and popularity has taken its toll on the Zone Constant?
